Read the Word:
Psalm 115:1-8
Meditate on the Word:
While this psalm was written hundreds of years ago, there is a sense in which it could have been written today. In today’s culture, people are more concerned with self than anyone else. Their idols may not be silver and gold, although those certainly are idols for many. The idols in today’s case are those empty lifestyles devoid of accountability to anyone but self. The instant gratification of doing whatever one wants in the moment without regard to consequence.
Today is a good day to remember that nobody but God deserves glory. He is the only One who is good. We are at best flawed and broken reflections of His image. A cracked and dirty mirror that fails to show the true beauty of our Creator. Let us give Him the glory.
Pray the Word:
Take the time during your prayer today to genuinely praise the God of all creation.
