Read the Word:
John 10:31-42
Meditate on the Word:
How much must one hate the words of someone in order to see them doing good things and want Him dead? Jesus’ various healing miracles, as we mentioned yesterday, were with the purpose of glorifying God and demonstrating His authority. These were done in plain sight. They were undeniable. Yet, because Jesus told them truths that they didn’t want to hear, the Jews wished to kill Him. Any excuse would have been sufficient because they looked for a way to kill Him. Why? Simply, they were threatened by a God they could not control.
We only have two possible responses to encountering Christ. We can either believe or not. If we truly believe, we will want to hear His words and follow His teaching. If we do not believe, we will either ignore His words, or worse, try to twist His teaching to fit what we want. Many in churches and pulpits do this now. We must know who He is, listen to His words, and do them. To do anything different is to wish Him dead and ourselves as gods.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord to reveal any of His commands that you have not taken to heart. Repent.
