Read the Word:
Luke 13:22-30
Meditate on the Word:
It is often rightly acknowledged that Jesus’ harshest criticisms were geared toward the religious leaders. Unfortunately, many who assert this truth like to do so in a way that minimizes the warnings that Christ gave. Our Lord warned people that He is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). He warned, “How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.” (Matthew 7:14). We are not truly paying attention to the teachings of Jesus if we ignore the warning that many will hear, “I never knew you, depart from Me.” (Matthew 7:23).
Many people heard the teachings of Jesus. Most abandoned Him. They found His teachings too hard and did not want to submit to God’s will. These will be the ones who say, “We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.” (Luke 13:26). Hearing the teachings of Christ doesn’t make one a Christian; obeying the teachings of Christ makes one a Christian. Let us not be hearers of the word only, but doers also. (James 1:22).
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord who you need to warn before the door is shut.
