Read the Word:
Ezekiel 3:16-21
Meditate on the Word:
In 2019, Dayton meteorologist Jamie Simpson went viral for a rant while covering a severe tornado in the area. Many people were complaining to the station that his coverage of the severe weather was interrupting their watching of The Bachelorette. Knowing that people needed to be warned about the coming destruction, Simpson chided (to put it nicely) those who were complaining, then continued warning people about the storm. The storm injured 166 people and did over 500 million in property damage. But some do not like to receive warning.
It is apparent this Ezekiel (along with other Old Testament prophets) would experience the same thing. People were making sinful and destructive choices and refusing to be warned. Ezekiel’s job, however, was not to entertain, it was to warn. He would be held responsible for those he failed to warn. It is the same with your pastor. His job is not to entertain, but to warn and to call people to holy living. It is also your job to warn people about their sin. This is difficult when they would rather ignore the storm and be entertained. It is however, imperative that we recognize that souls are at stake and do what God has called us to do.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord to help you avoid stumbling into unrighteousness today.
