Meditate on the Word:
At the baptism of Jesus, John was given a very obvious sign of exactly who Jesus was. John always knew that his mission was to point people to the Messiah. When he knew that Jesus was the One, John made certain to tell people that fact. In verse 35, we see John pointing out the next day that Jesus is “the Lamb of God.” It was information that he couldn’t help but share.
We have a parallel mission to John the Baptist. We are also to point people to “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” John testified of his own experience with Jesus. This is something that we also should be able to do. If we have been born again, we at least have that experience with Jesus. We should point someone to Him.
Pray the Word:
Ask the Lord to open your eyes to an opportunity to show someone “the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.”
