Read the Word:
Mark 14:12-26
Meditate on the Word:
On Sunday, we recognized, from the disciples’ question, that they all recognized within themselves the potential to betray our Lord. I’m certain that, aside from Judas, none of the disciples would have intentionally betrayed Jesus. However, all of them would fail Him in the next few hours. Those closest to Him would sleep in His hour of distress. Peter would deny Him three times. The rest would run away in fear.
When reading in this passage that Jesus says He will be betrayed, our minds automatically go to Judas’ agreement to give Him up for 30 pieces of silver. Do we sometimes give up our Lord for something insignificant? For a few extra dollars? For some extra sleep? For a petty grievance against someone else? Any time that our life contradicts His teaching and example, we betray Him.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord to point out to you areas where you are prone to betray Him. Then repent of these.
