Read the Word:
Psalm 51:1-13
Meditate on the Word:
On a day when heart decorations are everywhere, it is good to ponder the condition of our hearts. On a day when love is the buzzword, it is good to consider the greatest love ever given. On a day when people give tokens of their love, it is good to remember the greatest demonstration of love ever. Our love is naturally tainted by our human condition. But God’s is not.
We are prone to love when it is convenient for us, or when people show love to us. Jesus tells us that even the heathens do that. As disciples of Christ, the love that we show should be his perfect love. Of course we are not capable of doing this on our own. Our hearts are naturally corrupt. However, help is available for our corrupt and selfish hearts.
Pray the Word:
Pray the words that David did, “God, create a clean heart for me and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” — Psalms 51:10 (CSB)
