Read the Word:
Numbers 12:1-16
Meditate on the Word:
One of the great things about scripture is that God does not shy away from recording the dumb things that even the heroes of scripture say and do. Aaron, the first high priest of Israel, and his sister Miriam, were prone to racism and jealousy. God would not allow this, so He called them on the carpet, and confronted them with their sin.
It seems likely that Marian may have been the one who had a problem with the skin of Moses’ wife. After all, she’s the one that God punished by giving her skin that forced her out of the camp. She got to feel what it was like to be an outsider for a few days. Fortunately, however, Aaron and Miriam repented. Seeing their error in the light of God’s holiness will do that to you.
Pray the Word:
Ask God to reveal any sinful attitudes or jealousy in your life. Repent of it.
