Read the Word:
Psalm 63:3-5
Meditate on the Word:
David is such an interesting character. He was a warrior, poet, and musician who loved and celebrated God. Even when he was on the run from enemies, as in during the writing of this psalm. The introduction says, “When he was in the wilderness of Judah.” David had the ability to praise God when things were not going his way, perhaps even more so than when things were going well.
What about us? Do we maintain the ability to praise God, to thank Him, when things are not going well? We are going into a holiday dedicated to giving thanks to Him, but do we live with an attitude of thankfulness when it’s not a holiday? When we are not eating rich food? When we are not feeling particularly happy about situations in our lives? David provides a good example here for us. We can, and should, praise God in every situation.
Pray the Word:
Think of something that you are thankful for today. Praise God for it.
