Read the Word:
Psalm 93:1-5
Meditate on the Word:
It might be easy to overlook the portion of verse 5 which says, “Lord, your testimonies are completely reliable.” This does not seem to be the main focus of the psalm. Yet, it is vital to our understanding of God’s majesty and holiness. Either we believe that what God has revealed about Himself is true, or we do not. Apostle John reminds us of this when he writes, “The one who believes in the Son of God has this testimony within himself. The one who does not believe God has made him a liear, because he has not believed in the testimony God has given about his Son.” (1 John 5:10, CSB). If we dismiss God as a liar, where does that leave us?
Where does that leave us when disaster comes? It leaves us without Someone more powerful than ourselves to rely on. Where does calling God a liar leave us when our lives become out of control? It leaves us without Someone to rescue us from the disasters of our own making. Where does calling God a liar leave us as the end of our lives? It leaves us without a Savior. Most would not directly call God a liar, however, many say, “He didn’t really mean…” This is always a way to sidestep His command and do whatever we would like. Let us recognize that sin for what it is, calling the God of the universe a liar.
Pray the Word:
Ask God to reveal to you any area of your life where you have called Him a liar. Repent.
