Read the Word:
Acts 26:1-18
Meditate on the Word:
Paul has been arrested for his safekeeping because the Jews were trying to kill him. This arrest, however, would provide Paul with the opportunity to share his testimony in front of important people, such as King Agrippa. We may never be called to testify before kings, but the principles of Paul’s testimony apply when we share with people.
There are three essential elements of a person’s testimony:
- What your life was like before Christ. In Paul’s case he was very religious, but did not know God. What was your life like before you knew Christ? Maybe it was terrible, or maybe not so bad. But either way, you were a sinner separated from God.
- How you encountered Christ. Not all of us have a face-to-face encounter with Christ on the Road to Damascus. Many of our accounts, particularly if we come to Christ as children, are less dramatic. They are no less a testimony. You are simply telling what happened that day.
- What your life is like now. What has happened in your life as the result of your encounter with Christ? How is it different now? What are you doing for Him? These are also essential parts of your testimony.
Our job as believers is not to academically prove our Lord’s existence so that people will follow Him. Our job is to testify about our Lord and what He has done. Let us remember that today.
Pray the Word:
Reflect on your life and thank God for how it is different since encountering Christ.
