Read the Word:
1 Corinthians 12:12-27
Meditate on the Word:
Yesterday, we were asked to consider which gifts God has given us as individuals for use in the church. Remember that these gifts are given by God for the common good. One thing that is certain is that God likes for people’s gifts to work together. We often see this in marriages: two people with two completely different sets of strengths come together, each with something that the other lacks. God does the same thing in churches. Not everyone can be a preacher, but the church requires one. Not everyone can teach Sunday School, but the church certainly needs them. Not everyone can play an instrument, or keep track of the finances, vacuum the carpets, or reset the water pump. Yet these are things that all need done, and get done because those who are gifted in those areas do those things.
A key part of our journey as disciples is recognizing what gifts God has given to us, how they fit in with the gifts that He has given to others, and how He expects us to use those gifts. In submitting to His will for us, we will find that we are much more effective together. We may indeed be blown away by what our God is able to accomplish through His people working together each sharing their gifts for the common good.
Pray the Word:
Ask God for wisdom in the use of the gifts He has given to you.
