Read the Word:
Mark 14:53-65
Meditate on the Word:
Pay attention to Jesus’ words in v. 62, “I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.” Do these words fill you with excitement about the return of Christ? For those who are His disciples, His return is good news. It is what we wait for. What we hope for. What we pray for. But, while these words can and should be a comfort to us, that is not the context in which they were given. They were given as a warning to those who wanted Jesus dead.
The thought of Him returning in power should strike fear into the hearts of His enemies. Those who fought against Him. Those who called for His crucifixion. Those who mock Him. Those who mistreat others. Jesus did not come to condemn us but to redeem us. Many have rejected that redemption, and see no immediate consequence for it. But, as He said, He will return. And that will be a dreadful day for many. So, are you excited for Christ’s return? If not, you should examine why.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord to give you insight into anything you need to address before His return. Then, commit to doing what He reveals to you.
