Read the Word:
Acts 10:23-33
Meditate on the Word:
We have previously discussed the vision that God gave to Cornelius and the vision that God gave to Paul. Cornelius has assembled all of his relatives and close friends to hear the man that God had commanded him to send for. Cornelius was thoroughly convinced of two things: that God had told him to have Peter come, and that God had given Peter a message for them. His whole household was waiting for “everything the Lord has commanded you to tell us.”
Do we approach our weekly worship services with this attitude? The attitude that says, “My family and friends are here to hear everything the Lord has commanded you to tell us?” We are here because our Lord commanded us to “not neglect meeting together” (Heb. 10:25)? We are here to find out what actions our Lord would have us to take? If we do not have this attitude toward our worship gatherings, we cannot expect to receive anything from the message the Lord sends. We must gather, listen, pay attention, and apply what we have learned. Let us commit to doing so this week.
Pray the Word:
Confess to the Lord your attitude about attending worship. Commit to hearing what He has to tell you this week.
