Read the Word:
1 Corinthians 1:18-31
Meditate on the Word:
I think that often, those who have been lifelong Christians have a hard time understanding why others do not understand or accept our understanding of Christ. It can be very tempting to see the message of the cross as common knowledge. It can be easy to see the creation narrative as a given. To see the Fall of Man as historical fact. To understand that everyone is sinful and in need of a Savior. These seemingly “obvious” truths, however, are very difficult to overcome for those who do not know Christ.
Apostle Paul understood this. He also understood that without the Holy Spirit’s help, people are incapable of understanding these truths. This is why even the best academic proof of God does not cause a person to come to repentance. This is also why we, as Christians, must be patient with those who are blinded to the truth. We can never “convince” someone to come to faith in Christ. But we can pray that the Holy Spirit would grant them the grace of opening their eyes to Him.
Pray the Word:
Thank God for any way that He chooses to use you today.
