Read the Word:
Psalm 119:9-16
Meditate on the Word:
I can remember as a child a certain brand of soap being advertized as “99 and 44/100% pure.” Research shows that at the time Proctor and Gamble started advertizing this, it was the most pure soap available. And that really seems like a high percentage. After all, if I answered 99 and 44/100% of questions correctly on a test, that would be a fantastic grade. But, as an adult, I tend to ask the question, “what of the other .56%?” Of course, I’ve also questioned what the fifth dentist surveyed recommended, but that’s a subject for another day.
Our psalm today is reminder of our need for purity in our lives. After all, how much of what impurities would accept in, say, our food? Our water? How much impurity are we willing to accept in our minds? Our spirit? We must be as careful what we feed our spirit as we are what we feed our body. It is good that you are starting with the pure Word of God today.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord to teach you His statues (v. 12) today.
