Read the Word:
Psalm 107:10-16
Meditate on the Word:
It doesn’t take going very far into a cave before it becomes completely dark. If you are deep into the earth with no light and narrow walls, it doesn’t take very long for the feeling of being trapped to take over. When you’ve reached the point where you no longer see the light of the entrance, you can feel like you’re lost forever. One thing is certain: you will not get out by continuing to go further into the darkness.
How often do we treat our sin like a cave. We know that it’s dark inside, but want to see it anyway. Then, maybe explore a little further. Then, we cannot see where we are, what we are doing, or what is lurking in there with us. If we fall, will someone find us? Our God is always happy to rescue us from our sin, but we have to quit going further into the cave. We have to turn around and go toward His light and He will rescue us.
Pray the Word:
Give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love (v. 15) which rescues us.
