Read the Word:
1 Corinthians 2:12-16
Meditate on the Word:
My father spent most of my childhood working in Cable Television in various parts of the Midwest. Cable was a great invention, because you could get more than the three networks and PBS. But there was certain programming that you had to pay extra money to receive. These were mostly the channels that showed “adult” content. If you did not pay for these channels, what you saw when you tuned the cable box to that channel was a staticky picture that you could not make out. Often, the sound would come through clearly, but the picture was unintelligible.
If we try to understand the scriptures without the Holy Spirit teaching us and making it understood, often what we receive is a scrambled picture that makes no sense. We may catch an occasional glimpse here and there, and maybe understand the words, but we certainly will not see or understand the scriptures without the Holy Spirit’s help. This is why Apostle Paul writes, “We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people.” The Holy Spirit “descrambles” God’s word for us so that we can comprehend and apply it.
Pray the Word:
Thank the Lord for the gift of the Holy Spirit enabling you to understand His word.
