Read the Word:
2 Kings 5:1-14
Meditate on the Word:
Naaman was desperate for healing. He was willing to pay a great price for it, take a long journey, and meet with the man of God. He also would have been willing to jump through almost any hoop in order to be healed. Yet, he could not help but to feel disrespected when he showed up at Elisha’s door and Elisha did not even bother to come out to see him. Instead, he sent a servant to the door with a simple command to wash in the Jordan seven times. This was well beneath the dignity of someone like Naaman.
God calls for us to set aside our pride and humbly obey Him. That is where we will find Him doing extraordinary things in our lives. In simple things, such as prayer and reading of scripture, we find God there healing and comforting us. Sometimes this healing is a big thing, like Naaman’s skin being restored. Sometimes what we receive during this time of simple obedience is simply the strength to get through the day. If we do not submit ourselves to God in the simple things, we miss opportunities to see Him in action.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord to reveal to you if there is any simple thing in which you might be tempted toward disobedience. Submit to meeting Him in that situation.
