Read the Word:
Numbers 16:20-35
Meditate on the Word:
Korah, Dathan, and Abiram had challenged the authority of Moses and Aaron. It seems that they were not happy with what God had done for them. They blamed Moses for bringing them out of a good land (Egypt) and into the desert. They thought they could do better. But by challenging God’s chosen leaders, they challenged God. And they did this publicly. If they had gotten away with it, chaos would have taken over the whole assembly of God’s people.
The warning to the people in this passage is clear. They must separate from those rebelling against God. Failure to do so would result in getting caught up in their punishment. The same warning applies to us today. We must separate ourselves from those who would try to have authority over God’s people while actively rebelling against Him. Failure to do so is ultimately deadly.
Pray the Word:
Before submitting to the teaching of any religious leader, pray that God will give you the wisdom to know who to avoid.
