Meditate on the Word:
We live in a very fearful time. In fact, fear fuels a great portion of our economy. Weapons, security systems, cameras, gates, walls–these are all things that we try to use to protect ourselves. The media fuels a great deal of fear, and this has gotten progressively worse with a decade and a half of social media. The left says the right is going to take away our freedoms. The right says the left is going to take away our freedoms. Truth be told, their entire business model is to stoke fear in people and act as if they are the solution.
Our psalm today reminds us that our Lord is our light, our salvation, and our stronghold. Any fear that we have is because we either believe that He cannot handle something or that He will not handle something. But if we recognize that He is in control, we need not fear. We can rely on Him, knowing that in the end, even if everything is taken away from us, our souls are secure with Him.
