Read the Word: Ephesians 4:20-32
Meditate on the Word:
We saw Sunday that Jesus became angry. Of course, the difference between His anger and ours is that His is a righteous anger. All sin is against Him. Of course, we all feel anger at some time. Sometimes it is for just reasons, and sometimes it is not. But, as a recent event showed me, anger can really take on a life of its own. It can even, if we allow it, become a part of our personality.
Anger, and the expression of it however, can fuel a false sense of power. This is why Paul’s reminder in today’s passage is so helpful. We can be angry, but we must now allow the false sense of power that our anger fuels lead us to sin. Anger can lead us to pursue revenge, which is not ours to seek. Instead, when we experience anger, we must make a more concerted effort to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the situation. Because when we sin in anger, that is giving control over to the enemy.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord to reveal any unresolved anger in your heart. Then, ask Him what actions are appropriate for you to take. He will surely guide you.
