Read the Word:
Psalm 11:1-7
Meditate on the Word:
Did you notice in verse 2, “For look, the wicked string the bow; they put the arrow on the bowstring to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart.” In the shadows, hidden from view, and yet with potentially deadly consequences, this is where our enemy operates. His goal has always been the same, “to steal, to kill, and to destroy.” (John 10:10). Sometimes shots are fired from the shadows at our beliefs, our character, our families. Sometimes the enemy in the shadows tries to lure us into the shadows. Once there, we can be caught in his snare. But we need not fear a boogyman in each shadow.
Our psalmist writes in the first verse, “I have taken refuge in the Lord.” The Lord is our “strength and shield” (Psalm 28:7). As long as we are abiding in Him, we are protected. That doesn’t mean that the enemy’s darts will not hurt, because sometimes they will. What abiding in the Lord means is that we are free from guilt and blame. We are free to operate in the daylight, knowing that our enemy is relegated to sniping at us from the dark places. We abide in the Lord knowing that He knows everything the enemy is up to. We remain in the Lord’s protection.
Pray the Word:
Thank our Lord for being your refuge today.
