Read the Word:
2 Corinthians 5:16-6:2
Meditate on the Word:
We live in a very divided time. It seems that nobody has tolerance for those who think and believe differently than they do. Insults and cursings are traded back and forth like an elementary school playground. Threats are being made and returned impulsively. Seemingly, nobody wants to be reconciled with anyone who is not like them.
Many have called for some sort of reconciliation, but most of those calls fall short of what needs to happen. For two people to be reconciled, one or both of them must give up territory in their fight. But, if as Apostle Paul demands, we are reconciled to God, we give up our territory to Him. We then call on others to join us as ones who are reconciled to God. When both parties are right with God, relationships become easier. After all, we then no longer see that person from a worldly perspective. We see them as a brother or sister in Christ, a new creation, and someone that we want to join with in serving our Lord. We can only be truly reconciled to each other if we are all reconciled to God first.
Pray the Word:
Confess to our Lord any ill will that you have toward a neighbor. Repent.
