Read the Word:
Psalm 90:1-6
Meditate on the Word:
It has been said that as we age, the days get slower but the years get faster. Some friends and I have noticed this phenomenon in our own lives. I feel like there is a chance that God does this to us to give us more of a perspective on the shortness of this life compared to eternity. Realizing how short our time is can give us more of a sense of urgency to accomplish something before we pass.
We read in verse 3, “You return mankind to the dust, saying, ‘Return, descendants of Adam.'” This is a stark reminder of the curse in the garden as the result of sin. God formed man from the dust of the earth and man’s body returns to the dust when his life is over. Moses reminds us of the brevity of life by comparing our lives to grass. The time that we have on earth is a precious gift that is not to be wasted.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord today to reveal to you what He would have you to do with your time today.
