Meditate on the Word:
For years, many people have speculated on what exactly is the “mark of the beast.” People have equated the mark with the social security number, electronic payments, vaccines (or vaccine records), etc. A lot of time has been spent fearing accidentally receiving the mark of the beast. God’s people do not have to worry. Those who receive the mark of the beast are contrasted with those in verse 1 of the same chapter, “144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.”
Those who are marked by Christ, who have taken His name, will not receive the mark because they will be faithful to the Lord throughout all persecution. They will endure being excluded from commerce, imprisonment, and even execution. But the mark of the beast is for those who reject God. Verses 6-7 tell us of an angel flying overhead telling the gospel. A last-ditch effort to bring people into the fold of Christ. Christ’s followers, who have received His mark, will spend their time drawing closer to Christ and calling others to Him. We should not panic over every new development that comes down the pike, but instead, show Christ to the world.
