Read the Word:
Psalm 33:12-22
Meditate on the Word:
It is very easy to place our trust in the things of this world that we can see around us instead of in God whom we cannot see. Nations trust in military strength to fend off enemies. Then enemies attack. People trust in jobs for security until the layoffs come. People trust in bank accounts until the cost of everything makes their hard-earned money much less valuable. People trust in health until there’s a diagnosis. We are often prone to trust in created things rather than the Creator.
We must learn to see these things, often good things, in their proper light. A strong military is good to have. It is no replacement for God’s blessing on a nation. A job is a good thing to have, but not as good as the One who provides the ability to do that job. Money is a good tool to have, but it is not a replacement for the One who owns the cattle on a thousand hills. Health is a gift, but not as great as the Great Physician. The point is that we must keep our focus and our worship on the One who is truly worthy of our worship.
Pray the Word:
Pray verse 22, “May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.”
