Read the Word:
1 Corinthians 11:23-26
Meditate on the Word:
If you regularly attend Sappony, the words of this passage should be familiar to you. When we observe the Lord’s Supper, this passage is read in order to prepare our hearts to receive the elements of the bread and the cup. Today is known as Maundy Thursday, the day that Jesus ate the Passover with his disciples before going to pray in the Garden of Gethsemane. It was at this supper that Jesus gave His final command before the crucifixion: “Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35).
It is good to regularly be reminded of the great sacrificial love that Christ demonstrates to us. We must also be prepared to demonstrate that love to others. Jesus laid down His life for us. There is no greater love.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord to give you an opportunity to demonstrate His love to someone in a tangible way.
