Read the Word:
Philippians 2:1-11
Meditate on the Word:
We live in a world geared toward selfishness. We can have anything we want, almost instantly, delivered to our door. We love people who serve us, help us, entertain us. We expect others to allow us to do what we want and even support and celebrate whatever choice we make. This is not the way of Jesus.
Jesus has the right to expect everyone to serve Him. Yet, when He came to earth, he served. He taught the word. He served bread and fish to the multitudes. He healed the sick. He washed feet. And, in obedience to the Father, He suffered a humiliating, torturous death on the cross to redeem us. The very life of Jesus should inspire us to serve Him and to serve others.
Pray the Word:
Confess those times when you are tempted to avoid humbling yourself.
