Read the Word:
Psalm 27:1-6
Meditate on the Word:
It is exhausting being constantly under attack. I remember in my early teens being bullied almost incessantly at school. The mental attacks, the teasing and name-calling, always bothered me because I was a very sensitive kid. Then, there was the physical harrassment, the hitting, pushing, and shoving (of course done outside the view of any adult). Of course, my recourses then were to either become a tattle-tale, or just live through it because I was certainly not big enough to fight back. And it seemed like nobody really cared.
Satan’s attacks on us can feel a lot like my middle-school years, but there is one key difference. God always knows about the attacks and we are always in His protection. Our psalmist David understood this. He had his share of earthly enemies, including the king who wanted him dead. But He also trusted that God would protect him, that our Lord would “hide [him] in His shelter.” When you are feeling under attack, try inserting your name into this verse. Be comforted in knowing that God is always in control.
Pray the Word:
Confess your reliance on God’s protection today.
