Read the Word:
Psalm 130:1-8
Meditate on the Word:
It is always good to be reminded of God’s forgiveness. Of course, it is much less pleasant to be reminded of our sin that requires forgiveness. The psalmist points out, “If you considered sins Lord, who would stand?” The answer, of course, is none of us. The psalmist recognizes that the only reason he has any standing to ask the Lord for deliverance is because of the Lord’s forgiveness to him. Without forgiveness, we are separated from God. But with forgiveness, we are drawn closer to Him. We have life and hope because of forgiveness.
Of course, we must be reminded that just as we do not deserve forgiveness, neither do those who have sinned against us. God, in His wisdom, has leveled the playing field by requiring that we all give undeserved forgiveness to each other. He has done that for us. Should we do any less? It is easy to come up with excuses, but of course these all fail in light of our own sin.
Pray the Word:
Thank the Lord for His forgiveness for your sin today.
