Read the Word:
Psalm 37:7-11
Meditate on the Word:
Part of being made in the image of God is having a sense of justice. We want to see evil punished and good rewarded. Of course, as humans, we often operate with a flawed sense of what “good” is and what “evil” is. We like to think of ourselves as good, and those who do not share our morals are evil. What we often miss is the evil in our own hearts. God’s sense of justice is perfect; ours is not. But when we see people acting unjustly, in whatever definition we use, it can cause us great distress and anger.
David reminds us in our psalm that while the evil may prosper for a time, their time is limited. We do not have to worry if we see evil plans succeeding. We need not fear whatever is happening in our world. Instead, we need to continue trusting in God. We need to continue living without fear of being wronged. We need to trust that whatever happens, in the end, God is in control and He has promised to care for those who love Him. Let us hold to that hope today.
Pray the Word:
Confess to our Lord any anger or fear you harbor over wrongs.
