Read the Word:
Galatians 5:13-15
Meditate on the Word:
It is easy to be self-centered. The world around us encourages us to seek our own gratification first, regardless of what others may say or think. We are told that we should put our needs first. We are also told that our wants are equivalent to our needs. But scripture is clear. We, as Christians, are to serve others. This often means setting aside our selfish desires and doing things that are inconvenient, unpleasant, or costly.
Loving our neighbor as ourselves means caring for their needs. It means making them a priority. It does not eliminate care for ourselves, but instead calls us to care for them the same way that we care for ourselves. We meet their needs in the same way that we meet ours. And we do this without judgment.
Pray the Word:
Ask the Lord for the opportunity to show kindness to someone today.
