Read the Word:
Philippians 1:12-18
Meditate on the Word:
When Paul wrote this letter to the church at Philippi, he was a prisoner in Rome, being held for his preaching of the gospel. But instead of spending his time in prison bemoaning how unfair it was that he was being held, Paul was productive with his time. He used his time to write four of the books of the New Testament (Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon). He also apparently used his time to witness to everyone in the Imperial guard who would listen. He recognized that, for this time, this imprisonment was his assignment from God, and he made the absolute most of it.
Do we have the same attitude as Paul when we find ourselves in a situation we do not want to be in? Do we recognize that God often has us in a particular place and time for the benefit of others? Who are the people we encounter as a result of God having us in a place we do not want to be? Who is our faith being demonstrated to in our situation? Paul would not have had occasion to witness to the Imperial guard had he not been in prison. Others who became bolder in proclaiming the gospel did so as the result of seeing Paul be bold, even in prison. Never underestimate the impact that you have where God has placed you right now.
Pray the Word:
Have you had a bad attitude about a situation in your life? Confess it to God and repent.
