Read the Word:
Psalm 89:1-4
Meditate on the Word:
Since the beginning of mankind, people have been letting each other down. We say things that we shouldn’t. We fail to say things that we should. We say things that we do not mean. Or we say things that we mean at the time, then later change our minds. We make promises that we are unwilling or unable to keep. While this is common, of course we should always follow the words of Christ and simply let our yes be yes and our no be no (Matthew 5:37).
Our God is not fallible like us. He is always faithful. In the small things and the large things. He always keeps His promises, even if they seem delayed to us. The birth of Jesus in Bethlehem was God keeping another one of His promises. At just the right time, in just the right place, God gave us a Savior. And one day, Jesus will return for us. He has made this promise. We can expect that at the perfect time, in the perfect place, He will keep that promise.
Pray the Word:
Thank the Lord for keeping His promises. Commit to be better at keeping yours.
