Read the Scripture: Jeremiah 14:11-16
Meditate on the Scripture:
When Jeremiah started prophesying, his nation of Judah was in trouble. They were about to be punished for their multitude of sins, yet they failed to repent. Instead, they chose to listen to false prophets who told them what they wanted to hear. They ignored the words meant to warn them to their own peril. Their nation did fall to Nebuchadnezzar.
False prophets still exist today. Shysters who preach prosperity. Mainliners who trade repentance for a version of “love” that defies the will of God. Those who command people to claim blessings that are not theirs. Satan, the father of lies, sells all these false claims as well as claims that God doesn’t mean what His word says (Gen 3:1-7), and even the lie that God does not exist. People pay attention to these lies to their own destruction.
We know the truth. And knowing the truth, we have every obligation to warn people who are in eternal danger. If a building were on fire, we would knock on the doors to warn people to escape. Few would say, “No, I don’t believe the building is on fire.” Or, “Give me another few days and I’ll come out.” Or, “A good God wouldn’t destroy the building.” Regardless of how people respond to our warning, it is our job to warn them.
Pray the Word:
Ask God to open the eyes of the blind to the lies that they are being told. Ask Him to call them to repentance.
