Read the Word:
Psalm 150:1-6
Meditate on the Word:
Many times, by Thursday, I have been so entrenched in the week’s routine that I find myself exhausted. Mental energy is sapped. It starts to become difficult to get out of bed. The enthusiasm with which I started the week seems to wane. When this is the case, many times what I notice is that I have, in my busyness, rushed through my time with the Lord. I have not taken adequate to praise Him, to rest in Him, to abide in Him. It becomes a vicious cycle because a lack of prayer and praise always seems to lead to less time and energy for prayer and praise. I must make intentional effort to break out of this cycle.
Today, our psalmist reminds us to praise Him for His wonderful acts. He also suggests many musicial instruments. Music is a great way to offer praise to our God. Of course not all of us have the ability to play music, but most of us have access to God-glorifying music online. Or, we might be able to step outside in the morning and listen to the birds and His other creatures praise Him. After all, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
Pray the Word:
Praise the Lord for His abundant grace today.
