Meditate on the Word:
Do we truly love God’s law or instruction? This can seem difficult or even counterintuitive. After all, there are so many restrictions on our behavior contained in His word. There are requirements of us that we might not want to obey. And yet, we must love His word and instruction anyway. His law is not meant to be a hindrance to loving our Lord or an obstacle to overcome. It is instead designed to show His great love for us and desire to protect us.
By spending more time with our Lord and in study of His word, which we do as an expression of our love to Him, we gain understanding and wisdom. More importantly, we become more like Him. Notice the last words of this stanza, “therefore I hate every false way.” This will come naturally as we gain understanding of God’s character and His great love.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord to give you understanding while reading His word today. Ponder the reason for His commands.
