Read the Word:
Mark 13:1-2
Meditate on the Word:
Within a generation, the magnificent Temple, the center of Jewish worship, would be leveled. The Jews rebelled against the Romans and Jerusalem (and the Temple) were completely destroyed in 70 A. D. The importance of the Temple was that it was where the presence of God dwelt among His chosen people. When the people rejected the Messiah that the Lord had sent, He allowed this symbol of His presence to be removed from them.
This does not mean that God is not with His people any longer. Instead, “your body is a Temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you.” (1 Corinthians 6:19) This means that we do not need a physical building to house the presence of God, but that we house the presence of God, if we have allowed Him into our lives. We do not have to go to festivals to encounter God. We have Him with us. Let us enjoy His presence today.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord to give you a reminder of His presence in you today.
