Read the Word:
2 Timothy 2:8-13
Meditate on the Word:
I think that likely most of us have a certain picture of what it is to deny Christ. We likely think of denying Christ in the manner in which Peter did three times, saying, “I do not know him.” (John 18:15-27). While certainly that is one way of denying Christ, it is not the only way. Some will claim Christ, and then turn and deny Him with their actions. They may be fans of His work, but not willing to give their lives over to Him. People may deny Christ with their behavior. Those who truly know Christ are transformed by Him.
As we go into the Christmas season, we love to celebrate the baby in the manger. We don’t seem to love as much celebrating the Son of God who said, “If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24). We have a choice. We can either deny ourselves and follow Him, or we can deny Him and follow ourselves. Which will it be?
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord to reveal any area of your life where you may be denying Him. Repent of whatever He reveals to you.
