Read the Word:
Acts 10:9-23
Meditate on the Word:
God’s timing and communication are something to behold. He gave Cornelius a vision calling him to send to Joppa (about 30 miles away) to get Peter. God also gave Peter a vision about not calling unclean what God has called clean right at the time that Cornelius’ men arrived to get him. It’s not likely that these men ever would have encountered each other, but Peter was the one that God wanted to present the gospel to Cornelius and his family. If not for the obedience of Cornelius in sending men to get Peter and Peter’s obedience in going, this encounter would not have happened.
How often are we tempted to ignore the Holy Spirit’s prompting to do something because we do not understand it? How often do we think, “That can’t be right.” How often are we entirely too busy, occupied, or entertained to even pay attention to what our Lord has called us to do? What wonderful blessings have we missed out on by not being obedient when called.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord to speak to you today. Take time to listen to Him.
