Read the Word:
Romans 12:9-21
Meditate on the Word:
Many people will be feeling joy today. Many others will feel great sadness and anger. Whichever camp you may find yourself in today, I want to encourage you to hold fast to Christ today. Do not let anger, bitterness, and hatred take over you. We are called to love, even our enemies who persecute us. This would not have been easy in Paul’s day. The Roman government was brutal. It may not be easy in our day either, but our Lord requires it.
We must all be careful to heed the words, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” We must follow the example that Christ set. Faithful Christians have followed Christ in loving their neighbors for two millennia. We must not let that end with us.
Pray the Word:
Whatever emotions you are feeling today, express them to our Lord in prayer. Listen as He tells you how to love others well.
