Read the Word:
Ephesians 6: 10-17
Meditate on the Word:
Yesterday, in our adult Sunday School class, we had a great reminder of the tactics of Satan that he used in the garden of Eden to tempt Adam and Eve. The devil’s tactic was to convince the first people that God is not as good as He appears, that He withholds good things from us, and that the consequences of sin are not that bad. Our first ancestors learned the hard way that they had been deceived. And we see it all around us today, because the same tactics still work on people.
In this passage in Ephesians, Paul reminds us that we need to be prepared for the attacks of the devil. Just as he deceived our original ancestors, he attempts to deceive us as well. He wants us to think that God is not that good. He wants us to think that God is withholding good things from us that we need, want, and deserve. He wants us to think that God is too harsh on us. He wants us to think that the consequences of our sin aren’t really that bad. Yet, the consequences of our sin drove Jesus to the cross. Let’s not be unprepared for the attacks of Satan today.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord for wisdom to discern where your attacks are coming from today.
