Read the Word:
Hebrews 10:19-25
Meditate on the Word:
In my very small hometown growing up, we were still privileged to have a daily newspaper. It was one sheet of newsprint, folded into a way that gave four pages of local, national, and international news. If you did almost anything in town, you would be mentioned in the paper. My grandmother saved every clip and picture that I was mentioned in (school plays, cross-country meets, etc.). One regular feature of the paper was the traffic docket, in which all traffic citations issued were printed. Which meant that when I got my first ticket, Mom and Dad were going to find out. So I had to tell them first.
I always found it difficult to go to my parents and admit a mistake. Perhaps we feel the same with God, finding it difficult to confess our wrong to Him. No matter how mad my parents may have been (and they were surprisingly not very mad this time), or how disappointed they were with my behavior, my position as their son never changed. It was not a position I earned, but one that was given to me. I was still able to go to them and maintain a relationship with them. It’s the same with God. We have not made the mistake so big that He refuses to forgive. We are still allowed, even encouraged, to go to Him boldly. Our position with Him is not one we earned; but one that He has given to us. That position is based on His faithfulness, not ours. And He never wavers.
Pray the Word:
Thank our Lord for His faithfulness to forgive your every fault today.
