Read the Word:
Psalm 124:1-8
Meditate on the Word:
Today, it is plain that our psalmist has in mind the ways in which God had delivered the nation of Israel from various enemies. The period of the Judges (about 400 years), records many of these instances. Sure, their enemies were allowed to get so far, usually as a result of their own unfaithfulness to God. But they were never allowed to fully annhialate God’s chosen people. This has held true throughout history.
We may, today, feel the attacks of the enemy. Sometimes these attacks are the results of things we have done or failed to do. Other times, like with Job, we do not know a reason. But the result of these attacks should always be to draw us even closer to God. While God may allow an attack, He also limits what the enemy can do to us. If we are experiencing the attack of the enemy, we should make a more concerted effort to pray and seek God’s face. He may not prevent the attack on us, because it serves His purpose, but He will certainly get us through it.
Pray the Word:
Thank the Lord for something that He has brought you through safely.
