Read the Word:
Exodus 16:1-21
Meditate on the Word:
I find it interesting that those who witnessed God’s miracles of the plagues in Egypt and the crossing of the Red Sea were so quick to think He would let them starve in the desert. They had their freedom, yet longed for some aspects of their captivity, such as the pots of meat and all the bread they wanted. Their first thought was not that God, who had brought them this far would provide for them, but that He would let them starve. It is a clear lack of trust among the people. Even when God miraculously provides manna for them to eat, and has promised to do the same the next day, they do not trust Him. Some attempt to save some of it and discover that it stinks and grows worms.
Before we are too hard on them, how often do we lack trust in God? Do we hoard money or things, fearing that He may not provide in the future? The same God who has brought us through everything in our lives so far can be trusted to bring us into what’s next. And He never fails to provide our needs along the way. Yet, how often do we not want to move onto what’s next?
Pray the Word:
Thank our God for what He has already brought you through. Express your trust in Him for your future.
