Read the Word:
Psalm 19:7-11
Meditate on the Word:
When I replaced a handful of old dim fluorescent lights in my basement with new LED lighting, my daugher jokingly referred to the new lights as “the light of God.” They seemed so incredibly bright, and you could suddenly see everything. It was almost blinding. In the same way, the instruction of the Lord has the effect of showing us the dark areas of our lives, encouraging us to clean them up. The experience of having our lives lit up by the word of God can be painful.
If we know that the law of God is perfect, and we ignore it, it is much like just not turning on the lights to avoid seeing how dirty the house is. It makes no sense to continue to stumble around in the dark tripping over those things that we need remove. In the same way, it makes no sense to know that God’s law is perfect and is for our good and to hide from it to hold on to sinful junk in our lives.
Pray the Word:
Thank the Lord for the renewing of your life (v. 7).
