Read the Word: 2 Thessalonians 2:5-12
Meditate on the Word:
It is easy to read a passage like this and ask, “Who is the lawless one?” But this is not the point of Paul’s letter. He is addressing the concern that some people have that they have missed the return of Christ. Paul, however, makes a point about society, then and now, when he writes, “They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.” (5:10, NIV). People would rather reject the truth and cling to the lie that will destroy them.
A popular phrase now is “my truth.” It’s a popular notion that each individual has their own “truth” that belongs to him/her alone. The problem is that we are not entitled to our own facts. Truth is not subjective. In fact, when we are told that Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life” that all truth is our Lord’s truth. Other alternate “truths” are not truth at all, but cleverly constructed lies.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord to reveal more about Himself to you today. Pray that you have the courage to stand for the truth.
