Read the Word:
Romans 8:1-11
Meditate on the Word:
When I was first learning to drive, I learned a valuable lesson. Where you are looking is where you will go. If your eyes are focused straight ahead on the road, you will go straight. If you focus on the vehicle in the oncoming lane, you will drift toward it. If you are looking at the ditch, you will drift toward it. If you focus too closely in front of your vehicle, you will drive erratically, constantly making larger adjustments than are required. But if you look toward where you are going, and give yourself time to react to objects ahead of you, you will drive more smoothly.
Paul makes a similar point about the Christian life to the believers in Rome. Where we focus our minds is where our lives will go. If we are focused on the things of this world we will drift toward them. We can be easily distracted by things to our left and our right which are designed to take our attention off of our Lord. However, if we have our minds focused on Christ, we will go toward Him. When we focus on Him, we will find it easier to stay in our lane and get to where He wants us to go.
Pray the Word:
Ask our Lord to bring to mind any areas of life where you focus on the things of the flesh instead of Him. Repent.
