Read the Word:
Revelation 22:6-9
Meditate on the Word:
John, elderly and exiled to the island of Patmos, received a stunning revelation from the Lord, which he recorded as instructed. It is a vision of images both wonderful and terrifying. And since his time of penning these words in the mid-90s A. D., people have been trying to figure out when the events recorded will take place and look for signs. Someone will make the effort to find every event or world leader in the pages of this book, looking for the imminent return of Christ. People who do this often miss the point of the book.
Revelation is not meant to be a road map of the end times. It is intended to call the church (particularly the seven churches of Asia mentioned in chapters 2-3) to faithful, holy living when things are difficult. We are not to be disheartened by all the things going on in the world. Instead, we are to trust in Christ and continue to follow Him. How do we “Keep the words of the prophecy of this book?” We do this by following Christ closely, regardless of what is going on around us.
Pray the Word:
Thank the Lord God today for His words which are “faithful and true.”
